Dynamics of Land Systems Theme 1 is concerned with the decision making processes related to land use management and how changes in land management decisions and practices affect eco-systems.

Consequences of Land System Change Theme 2 is concerned with the implications of land use change and how ecosystem services are linked to human well-being. It also centres on how humans respond to changes in ecosystem service provision.

Integrating analysis and modelling for land sustainability Theme 3 centres on improving our understanding of the vulnerability and resilience of land systems, and brings in the institutional perspective. Furthermore, it addresses the necessary progress in data and modelling integration.
