Abstract
The goal of this thesis is to develop a conceptual and operational framework for assessing resilience in a hill/mountain community with high risk from landslides and flooding in the Churia hills of Eastern Nepal. We will test methodologies for combining remote sensing, GIS and hazard mapping of landslides and flash flooding with socio-economic data on risk perceptions and coping mechanisms.
