Abstract

Land use conflicts are hypothesized to be the perceivable manifestations of conflicting landscape services. The purpose of this study is to test this hypothesis in a peri-urban study area of the densely populated Northern Plains of Switzerland. The study is expected to deliver:

a) new methods for spatially explicit mapping of landscape services, and
b) new analytical tools for modelling the conflict potential at the local to regional scale.

To achieve these results a combination of empirical fieldwork is employed together with exploratory multivariate statistical analysis and GIS modelling techniques
